Levels and Subjects I teach: I’m an English and History teacher with GoStudent. I can teach these at GCSE and A Level. As a professional writer I can offer academic and creative writing classes to adults and higher level students. I am a teacher of environmental science. I have an MSc in Conservation Ecology and extensive field experience in Latin America, Africa and Asia. About me: I have been a professional travel, environment, and creative writer for the last 20 years, and a teacher for the last 9. I have a background in acting, drama and conservation ecology and when it comes to teaching I draw on these skills to make my classes as fun, dynamic, and interesting as possible. I often use roleplay, music, media, and games to enhance students learning and understanding. Learning is so much easier when it’s fun and thought-provoking. I teach students from young children to the executives of large companies. Outside of my roles as teacher and writer I have also worked as an actor, journalist, conservationist and professional mountain and nature tour guide and tour designer. I love wildplaces. When not working, I love hiking, film, theatre, acting, travel, snorkelling, diving, photography, and martial arts. I also run workshops in creative writing. I have an MSc in Conservation Ecology from Oxford Brookes University. I decided to do this degree after living and working in Latin America, Africa and South East Asia for many years. Living and working as a guide, writer, and conservationist in these places inspired my love of the natural world. My degree is in acting and performance art. I was lucky enough to attend East 15 Acting School (which is now part of the University of East London) to study. I worked as an actor for many years, and I often include roleplay and drama in my lessons. For my A levels I studied English (A), Art (A) and Geography (B).

Having achieved an A* at A level and a 1st Class degree in Modern History with Economics at A level, I have experience teaching a wide range of history GCSE and A Level topics. The topics I have the most experience is in: Nazi Germany, The Cold War, Medicine through time, Anglo Saxon and Norman England, 20th Century Russia (1894-1924) and Britain during the 17th century (1625-1701); given the wide scope of history modules I study at University, I have a broader understanding of history - especially modern history. In addition to this, I am qualified and able to teach AQA GCSE English Language/Literature - including texts such as the Inspector Calls, Power and Conflict (Poetry), and Macbeth/Romeo and Juliet to a high level given my success at GCSE and A Level for English. As a tutor I would bring an infectious passion to continuous learning and improvement, helping students realise that commitment and hard work can take you far. Hi, I'm James! I'm a 22-year-old Philosophy and History Student at the University of Exeter.
