My name is Hayden, and I am a current student at the University of Lincoln, I am studying for a BA in Accounting and Finance. I am passionate about this subject as my 2 favourite subjects at GCSE and A-level were Maths and Economics and my course is a perfect combination of both. Problem solving is my favourite aspect of maths whereas Economics interests me as it applies problem solving to the economy and it affects everyone from governments to the consumer. My favourite hobby is travelling and experiencing different cultures. There is so much to learn and experience from visiting different countries and people. Travelling feels rewarding and expands your knowledge and appreciation. My tutor sessions will begin with a consolidating question from the previous weeks content to check that the student still understands the content. The main part of the lesson will be content and there will be integrated practice questions throughout. I will always end the lessons with a small quiz on the topic covered in the lesson. The results will determine next week’s lesson based on the students understanding. When tutoring students, I believe the most important thing is to have a creative and innovative approach to enable the students to understand and engage in the lesson. I achieved high GCSE's and A Levels in maths, and I am currently predicted a 1st class honours degree in Accounting and Finance. I have been tutoring for the past 2 years and really enjoy the rewarding feeling of helping students achieve their goals. I can help students build their confidence and knowledge in maths, and help them with revision and exam techniques. How I teach I start by working through the relevant exam-board specification with each student to identify their strengths, weaker areas and the topics where they need the most support. This allows me to create lessons around the individual student rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. We then work through each topic thoroughly, focusing first on understanding the fundamentals. I believe students perform much better when they genuinely understand a topic rather than simply trying to memorise information. Once the student is comfortable with the content, we move on to exam-style questions and past-paper practice. This is a key part of my teaching because knowing the content alone is not always enough to achieve the highest grades. Students also need to understand exactly what examiners are looking for, how to structure their answers and how to apply their knowledge under exam conditions. I also provide homework between lessons, where appropriate. This may include exam questions, additional research, revision tasks or planning longer written answers. This helps reinforce what we have covered and allows me to identify anything that needs further attention in the next lesson. Hello, my name’s Benjamin. I’m patient, approachable, and passionate about maths and physics. I’ve always enjoyed talking about the subjects I love, partly because I think they’re really cool, but also because I believe it’s important to be curious about the world around us. My approach to learning is based on understanding things from first principles. I think it’s much better to build strong foundations than to simply memorise facts or methods without really knowing why they work. If you understand something properly, you shouldn’t have to remember very much at all and that makes learning a lot easier and more enjoyable. I also like connecting concepts to real-world examples, as this can make abstract ideas feel much more concrete. For example, Faraday’s law helps explain how wireless charging works! As a tutor, I aim to make lessons clear, engaging, and supportive, helping students build confidence as well as knowledge. I completed my A-levels at Bristol Grammar School in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry, achieving A*A*A*A. In Year 12, I also gained a distinction in the Advanced Extension Award in Maths.
