I love stories and music. This is why I did an English and Music degree, which I really enjoyed. Reading and writing are such essential and valuable skills, so this, along with my love of stories is why I teach English. I think the Harry Potter books are fantastic. My favourite Shakespeare play is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as I love the magic of the forest and the fun of the character Puck. I have also studied Ancient Greek. This proved to be a fascinating language; I found it interesting to learn where so many modern words stem from. I used to run my own drama groups; I believe in the importance of self expression and the confidence that this can bring to people. I have been a tour guide, which was great fun. It was an excellent opportunity to see many interesting sites, whilst meeting many wonderful people. I have worked with a wide range of students over the years and believe in the potential of every individual. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano. I try to write songs with my partner, who is a much better musician than me. It usually ends up with me writing the lyrics and him writing the music! I also enjoy sailing, writing stories and walking my crazy puppy; she is a mix of sheepdogs, so all she wants to do is round everyone up, including the cat! Hi I'm Katie. In my free time I like to be with my friends, as well as social events within university, such as out chem eng society! Also, I enjoy cooking and baking and coming up with new recipes and flavours, as well as sharing this to my friends; especially cakes! I'm currently a masters student at the University Of Birmingham studying chemical engineering. I’m a 21 year old dental student studying in Bulgaria. I’ve taught students in the past, mainly during their GCSEs and A Levels, and I’m really excited to start teaching again. I’ve always been passionate about helping others learn because not only does it allow me to support students in building their confidence and understanding but it also strengthens my own knowledge.
