Hi, I’m Maja! (Pronounced Maya). I’m an astrophysics graduate and a qualified secondary school science teacher. I’ve been through the full rollercoaster of science education, from fighting my way through a master’s degree and emerging with first-class honours, to teaching Year 9s on a Friday afternoon who would rather be anywhere else. Now I help GCSE and A-Level students believe what I already know: you can do this. My goal is to make science feel understandable, interesting, and even a bit fun. When I’m not teaching, you'll find me hanging upside down on an aerial hoop, or writing stories inspired by science and folklore. I went to secondary school in Hungary, where I was initially more interested in the humanities, until I fell in love with space and modern physics. For my leaving qualifications, I completed Advanced Exams in Mathematics and Physics and achieved an A. At university, I completed an integrated Master of Physics degree at the University of Southampton. My first three years focused on general physics (including lab work, mechanics, quantum physics, solid state physics, and wave physics) with a few modules of astronomy. During my master’s year, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where I studied the relationship between black holes and their host galaxies and wrote my thesis on this topic. I graduated with first-class honours in Astrophysics. After university, I felt drawn to education and wanted to help students grasp the beauty of science, so I completed a year of school-centred initial teacher training. I now hold a PGCE with QTS as a qualified science teacher.

I specialise in breaking down complex topics into simple, easy-to-understand steps, making even challenging concepts accessible and engaging. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence. Many of my students have gone on to achieve top GCSE grades, including Grade 9s. Alongside improving academic performance, I aim to help students develop strong study habits, problem-solving skills, and confidence that will benefit them throughout their education. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your understanding of key topics, improve your exam technique, or work towards the highest grades, I’d be happy to help you achieve your goals. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, where I apply advanced mathematics and science to solve real-world engineering problems. I achieved AAB at A-Level in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry, and predominantly A* grades at GCSE, including top grades in Maths and Science. Alongside my studies, I have been tutoring GCSE Maths and Science for over four years, helping students of all abilities improve their confidence and achieve their target grades. Hi! My name is Aisha and I am a second-year medical student who really enjoys helping students feel more confident in their learning. I remember how stressful school and exams can feel, so I try to be the kind of tutor I would have wanted myself- patient, encouraging, and easy to talk to. I am calm, approachable, and always happy to explain things more than once if needed. I believe learning works best in a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is not just to help with the subject content, but to build confidence, motivation, and good study habits along the way. Outside of studying medicine, I enjoy reading, learning languages, practising yoga, and spending time with friends. I am a second-year medical student with a strong academic background across both science and humanities subjects. Achieving top grades at GCSE level and progressing through A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and English literature has given me a well-rounded understanding of different learning styles and exam techniques. Studying medicine has helped me to develop a structured and clear approach to learning, which I use to help students build strong foundations and confidence in their subjects. I'm a Mathematics and Data Science graduate of the London School of Economics, and I now run a startup that uses machine learning in drug discovery, so I put the maths I teach to work every day. I studied Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Chemistry at A-level, earning an A* in Maths, and I'm a two-time gold medallist in the National Physics Olympiad. I tutor Maths, Physics and Computer Science from GCSE through A-level, and I also prepare students for university admissions tests and Oxbridge applications. Having recently sat these exams myself, I know exactly where students get stuck. My approach is patient and diagnostic: I find the gap, rebuild from there, and focus on real understanding and problem-solving rather than memorising. Most of all, I love helping students go from dreading a subject to feeling confident and capable in it. I attended St Paul's School, where I took A-levels in Mathematics (A*), Physics (A), Computer Science (A) and Chemistry (A), along with an A* EPQ in electrical and systems engineering. At GCSE I earned seven grade 9s, including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science, and four grade 8s. I then studied for a BSc in Mathematics and Data Science at the London School of Economics (LSE), with coursework spanning machine learning, optimisation, real and complex analysis, probability and statistics, graph theory and algorithms. Alongside my degree I completed Harvard's CS50 and an MIT course in mathematics for finance. My specialisations are Maths, Physics and Computer Science at GCSE and A-level, and preparing students for university admissions tests (STEP, TMUA and ESAT) and Oxbridge applications. I'm also a two-time gold medallist in the National Physics Olympiad, which is exactly the kind of problem-solving these entrance exams reward.
