Hi! I'm Michaelangelos, a mathematics graduate from the University of St Andrews (MMath) and incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow. I've been tutoring maths for several years, including Higher and National 5, and it's something I genuinely love doing. What I care most about is helping students build real confidence and intuition, not just memorise steps. Maths can feel intimidating, and I get a lot of satisfaction from being the person who helps make it click, whether that's turning anxiety into understanding, or helping a curious student go further than they thought possible. I'm equally excited to work with students who find maths difficult and scary as I am to work with those who want to push themselves and become really strong mathematically. Whatever your starting point, I'll meet you there. I am currently an incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow, where my research focuses on dissecting neural networks, specifically regarding optimisation and generalisation. Prior to this, I completed an Integrated Master of Mathematics (MMath) at the University of St Andrews. During my time at St Andrews, I was placed on the Dean's List consecutively and achieved first-class averages in my final two years of study. I also spent an exchange year at Western University during the 2024-2025 academic year. My academic background is deeply rooted in advanced mathematics and computational science. My master’s dissertation, which earned a 90% grade and was highly commended for the Duncan Prize, focused on a posteriori methods for error control via the reconstruction technique. My key areas of study have included stochastic dynamics, statistical machine learning, financial mathematics, neural networks, and data analytics consulting. Through these experiences, I have developed strong technical proficiencies in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, and R, along with various machine learning frameworks.

Hello, my name is Isabel (Belle) and I am an 18 year old first year medical student who loves to teach. I enjoy bringing my passion for studying into my lessons and using a range of teaching methods well tailored to the student to provide an enjoyable yet engaging experience. In primary school I did my 11+ alongside my SATS in year 6. I completed my GCSEs with high grades and got accepted to do A Level Bio, Chem and Psych. I am now doing premed and have completed Bio, Chem, Maths, Physics, Calculus, Anatomy, Psychology, Biochemistry subjects over the course of 2 semesters achieving 100% / close to 100% in all subjects.

Hi, I’m Alice! I’m a qualified teacher with a degree in English Literature, which is a subject I’ve always really enjoyed. I love exploring stories, characters and different interpretations of texts, and I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident in expressing their own ideas. I’m friendly, patient and approachable, and I believe lessons should be engaging and give students the confidence to develop their own opinions. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, travelling, exploring new places and spending time with family and friends. I’m really looking forward to meeting my students and helping them build their confidence, discover what they enjoy about learning and achieve their goals. My educational journey began at Plympton Academy, where I attended both secondary school and sixth form from 2011 to 2018. During my time there, I developed a strong interest in English and the arts, which ultimately influenced my decision to pursue these subjects at university. From 2018 to 2021, I studied Drama and English Literature at the University of Winchester, completing my undergraduate degree. My degree allowed me to develop a strong understanding of English literature, while also strengthening my communication, presentation and analytical skills through the study of Drama. I particularly enjoyed exploring different texts, developing interpretations and communicating ideas clearly, skills which have continued to be valuable throughout my teaching career. Following my undergraduate degree, I completed my PGCE at Plymouth Marjon University from 2022 to 2023, specialising in primary education. This gave me the professional training and practical experience required to become a qualified teacher. During my teacher training, I developed my understanding of the primary curriculum, lesson planning, assessment, behaviour management and, importantly, how to adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of different learners. From 2024 to 2026, I worked as a primary school teacher, gaining experience teaching children across the primary age range and developing a broad knowledge of the National Curriculum. My teaching experience has involved planning and delivering lessons, assessing pupils' progress, identifying areas where learners need additional support and adapting my approach to help pupils make progress. Alongside my academic background, my experience in primary education has given me a strong foundation in English, reading, writing and general primary curriculum subjects, as well as experience supporting children with different learning needs and levels of confidence. I am now looking to bring this combination of academic knowledge and practical teaching experience into tutoring, providing students with supportive, engaging and personalised lessons that help them to develop both their skills and their confidence.
