My teaching philosophy is shaped by my academic background in anthropology and interest in how culture influence the production of knowledge. I also have knowledge in film studies and skills in audio-visual production. I can support students in their academic and artistic creative process. In my teaching, I link the learning material and cultures to engage in communication with the students and contextualise what we are learning. Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

🌟 About Me Hello! I’m Mane, a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor with over five years of tutoring experience, I specialize in helping students build strong foundations in English and Maths, from Year 1 through Year 11.
