I am a recent graduate of Biochemistry from the University of York where I got a 2:1. I have 3 A* A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I have experience of tutoring students doing GCSEs and A Levels and I strongly believe in the importance of understanding concepts completely so that they can be applied instead of rote memorisation. I have a strong passion for the sciences and maths and believe in their importance for understanding and moving through the world as well as becoming resilient to misinformation and misunderstanding. I attended St George's school where I got 10 GCSEs including 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Language and an 8 in Maths. I then earned 3 A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I then attended the University of York studying Biochemistry where I attained a 2:1.

Hello! My name is Shruti and I have always been fascinated by technology and how it shapes the world we live in. I have a strong passion for mathematics and science. I enjoy the challenges of solving complex problems and finding different solutions, which strengthen analytical thinking as well as problem-solving skills. I believe this is very important because it helps us to understand problems better and enables us to break them down into smaller, more manageable parts, which is also very crucial to learn. This also allows us to evaluate options logically instead of just guessing. Alongside this, I love listening to music. Listening to different genres helps me to relax and stay motivated; it also enhances my focus, concentration and memory. For me, music also works by blocking out distractions and creating a very steady rhythm for the brain to follow, which further increases my level of concentration. I also enjoy learning different languages because I believe this helps with connecting to different people from diverse backgrounds. Cognitively, learning a new language strengthens memory, problem-solving skills, as well as concentration. Altogether, these skills helped me to build confidence and independence. Therefore, I became better at explaining new ideas clearly and in an easily understandable way. I also became better at learning new things and finding solutions quickly to different problems. This is extremely essential in fields like engineering and tutoring! Throughout my academic years, I have attended Queen Mary's High School, and after that, I attended Queen Mary's Grammar School for sixth form. Currently, I am a first year Computer Engineering Student at the University of Birmingham.During my school years and university so far, I have completed assignments, projects which have helped me to develop my analytical thinking skills and experience explaining difficult concepts easily. Furthermore, I have also done mentoring before in school, where I was teaching maths to a GCSE student, and this also enabled my skills to improve and gave me more experience of teaching.

I’m someone who enjoys helping others understand things and grow in confidence, especially in maths. I’ve previously given private lessons to classmates, and I found it rewarding to see a topic click after we worked through it together. My approach is to break problems into manageable steps and explain them clearly, adapting to the person I’m helping. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that’s an important part of learning. Outside of studying, I enjoy reading and playing football. I’d love to bring my enthusiasm for maths to GoStudent and help students feel more confident in their own abilities. I completed my GCSEs before studying Maths, Chemistry and IT at A level. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at university, where I continue to develop my mathematical knowledge and apply it to practical engineering problems. My studies have strengthened my analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to work through complex calculations logically. Alongside my education, I have given private lessons to classmates, helping them understand challenging topics by breaking them into manageable steps. This experience sparked my interest in tutoring and showed me the importance of adapting explanations to each student’s understanding.
