I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Financial Management and have previously studied towards a BCom in Accounting. My name is Gemma and I am an English and Drama Graduate from Exeter University, 2:1 with a Creative Writing Dissertation. I have aspirations in teaching at Secondary School level and classroom and mentoring experience. I have worked for a year post graduation as a Sabbatical Officer in the Students Union. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing poetry and performing. I achieved 1x 7, 2x 8, 2x A* and 7x 9 in my GCSE's and 3x A at A level in English, Drama and Philosophy and Ethics. I took a gap year working, and volunteered in my school supporting extracurricular drama, and I have since returned 3x with paid opportunities, 2x teaching in music and drama. I went to Exeter University and studied English and Drama acheiving a 2:1 and departmental commendation for contributing to the life of the department. During my time at University I took on leadership and mentoring roles in extracurricular and this led me to my current position as a Sabbatical Officer advocating for Students in the University.

I began my academic journey at Claremont High School Academy Trust, where I achieved strong GCSE results, securing grades between 9 and 6 across all subjects. Building on this foundation, I completed A-Levels in History, Tamil, Psychology, and Religious Studies, achieving AABB. My passion for law led me to the University of Kent, where I graduated with a First-Class LLB (Hons). I have since completed a Master’s degree in Law, alongside the Legal Practice Course, and am currently working at a law firm, where I am on track to qualify as a solicitor this year. Alongside my legal training, I am also pursuing a diploma in Mridangam and currently hold Grade 7. My academic development has been complemented by extensive practical legal experience gained through internships, volunteering, and hands-on work within practice, giving me a strong understanding of both legal theory and its real-world application. With a solid academic background and current professional experience in law, I am committed to supporting students in achieving their full potential, offering clear guidance, subject expertise, and a genuine dedication to their success.

I am passionate about teaching Maths because I enjoy helping students see that Maths is not something that is impossible but with help even the most complex topics can be broken down simply. It is especially nice when students come back to you with better results more confidence and a big smile. I can teach Mathematics for A-Levels and below. Big fan of football, cricket (which I play competitively for a club in the Surrey Leagues), video games and recently F1 I would like to preferably tutor students in secondary school, however I am open for Primary school students as well.
