Hi there! My name is Omasiri, and I am a second-year LLB Law student at the University of Brighton. I teach GCSE History and Sociology, and I teach English from KS2 to GCSE. For GCSE exam boards, I am strictly AQA only. I believe that teaching should be fun and personalised so that everyone has their best chance at succeeding, as every person experiences and processes things differently. I studied 7 GCSEs and 1 BTEC at The Aylesbury Vale Academy. My subjects and grades were the following: Mathematics (6), Double Science (6,6), English Literature (7), English Language (7), History (7), Music (7), Spanish (7), and a Level 1 & 2 TEC Award in Performing Arts (Distinction* = 9). For A-levels, I studied at a grammar school called Aylesbury High School. These are the subjects I took and the grades I got: English Literature (B), History (B), Psychology (C), and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) on The Necessity of the Right to Silence and Diplomatic Immunity to the Criminal Justice System (C). Now I am a law student who finished their first year with a 2:1, striving to graduate with a 1st and go into being a solicitor or work within the legal sector of large business firms.

I want fulfillment in my career and the opportunity to meet people who are more like-minded sounds very exciting. I believe I am a passionate tutor, professional and fun with good energy and a positive outlook on life and look forward to the challenges ahead. I have been teaching English online for over three-years now. This has included English as a foreign language and GCSE/ A level English literature and language. I graduated last year with a first-class degree in English literature and Language in Cardiff University and received a scholarship in my second year for being the best performing pupil in my cohort. English teaching has long been a passion of mine and my role has evolved to encompass academic writing support, something that I feel should be taught in school and is sought after by examiners across all exam boards. My students always achieve their goals through hard work, regular tutoring and lots of writing practice! I am currently a part-time Master's student of a TESOL and Education programme in Cardiff and my intention is to lecture this subject in the near future after my PHD. Alongside my own studying, I volunteer at an asylum-seeker charity 4 hours a week teaching adults basic skills such as digital literacy, English communication and life skills. I am also responsible for about 4 young learners who I have taught consistently over the last three-years. Please read some of my lovely pupils' comments about their online tutoring experience with me below: -

I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. My academic background includes a BA in Sociology, a diploma in Counselling, ACCHP accreditation, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. This academic journey, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to provide learners with both subject expertise and practical strategies to achieve success. In English, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping learners gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively. My Sociology and Psychology teaching draws on my academic knowledge and real-world insights, making lessons engaging and relevant by connecting theory to contemporary issues and everyday life. I believe that every learner has unique strengths, and I adapt my teaching style to meet individual needs. My counselling background helps me create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and develop resilience. Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic, I encourage students not only to meet their academic goals but also to grow in confidence and independent thinking. Above all, I am committed to inspiring curiosity, developing critical skills, and empowering learners to reach their full potential in their chosen subjects. My academic background reflects both a strong commitment to education and a passion for understanding people, society, and the human mind. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education from Griffith University, Australia, where I developed a foundation in social theory, educational practice, and the ways in which learning is shaped by cultural and societal factors. This degree gave me valuable insights into both the structures of society and the transformative power of education. Building on this, I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing. This qualification provided practical tools for supporting individuals and groups, strengthening my ability to create learning environments that are empathetic, inclusive, and responsive to different needs. Currently, I am completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, with only the final stage remaining. This advanced study has deepened my knowledge of psychological theory, research, and application. It has also enhanced my analytical and critical thinking skills, and further developed my ability to connect theory with practice. Studying at postgraduate level has reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning and prepared me to bring a high level of academic and practical expertise into my teaching. Taken together, these qualifications demonstrate not only my academic achievement but also my dedication to education, psychology, and counselling—fields that all intersect in my work as an educator and tutor.

The advantages of studying English
English is an essential subject in the national curriculum. All students are required to pass English exams at primary school and English makes up one of the three core GCSE subjects in secondary school.
Studying for an English and Literature A-level or an undergraduate or master's degree can be hugely rewarding. Not only will you learn a great deal about the language, you will also be introduced to radically different ways of understanding and explaining the world.
An English degree can open the door to a wide range of career opportunities in fields such as teaching, editing, journalism and law. There is also a growing market for teaching English as a second language either at home or overseas, where the demand might be higher.

English exam preparation and English revision classes
GCSE exams are the qualifications students take at the age of 16. GCSE English provides a solid foundation for studying humanities courses at a higher level, and skills taught include writing essays, reading comprehension and text analysis.
