Hi, I'm Rafaela, a 19 year old university student who believes learning should be engaging and built on a genuine connection. I grew up in an international school abroad providing me with a diverse range of knowledge on different cultures as well as a broader perspective. At school I was head girl, providing me with leadership qualities as well as experience working with students from a wide range of year groups. When I’m not tutoring or studying, you'll probably find me at the gym with my friends, playing netball, reading a new book or baking something sweet. My hobbies not only bring me joy but they have taught me valuable lessons. For example, I have learnt both in and outside of school that practice does make perfect, and that nothing is impossible but instead sometimes a difficult journey to success. Through netball, I am used to working in a team to achieve an end goal, which is a crucial skill for tutoring to ensure beneficial lessons for both myself and my student. As a tutor, I understand everyone has their own unique way of learning and I love to be the person to help students find their way of learning and gain confidence in their academic ability. I want to be more than merely just a tutor for my students, I want to be someone they can trust, confide in, and see as a friend. I am excited to help students discover their own strengths and achieve their goals! I am currently studying at the University of Manchester, undergoing a undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Portuguese. I am in my second year of a four year course, meaning i will graduate in 2028. Prior to this, i completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme for my last two years of school, receiving 36 points overall, with a 6 in higher level English. I also received 10 GCSE's, 6 A's and 4 A*s in 2022, getting A*s in both English Language and English Literature. My experience with tutoring has only ever been specific to English. I have tutored privately for two separate families, for children ranging between 5 - 13 years old. I first started tutoring English in 2020 and have been on and off tutoring for 5 years. Other work i have completed before has also been children specific, babysitting and netball coaching meaning i have lots of experience coaching and working with a large range of age groups.

Hi, I’m Sophie! I love teaching Maths and English, and have experience in tutoring students from 11+ to A Level. I achieved straight 9s in my GCSEs and A*s and As in A Levels, and have a particular interest in the philosophy of mathematics. My lessons focus on breaking down challenging ideas into manageable, clear steps, while building the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in exams. First and foremost, I approach teaching with genuine enthusiasm and a passion for the subject, and I hope to inspire that same curiosity in my students. I think that gaining confidence is fundamental to succeeding in any subject: even those which can initially feel difficult or intimidating can become genuinely enjoyable once they are explained in the right way. I’m happy to tutor Maths from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE, helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and prepare effectively for exams. For English, I tutor students from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE as well, including support with essay writing, analysis, and exam preparation. I can also provide support with EPQs and coursework, helping students develop ideas, structure their work, refine their arguments, and improve their written expression. Alongside tutoring, I love reading, learning about AI and swimming in the sea in Cornwall. I’m also currently learning Python and Spanish! I attended a high school in London with an academic scholarship, achieving ten grade 9s and GCSE and 98% in an Additional Maths qualification. I then studied Maths, Further Maths, English and Latin at A Level, achieving A*s and As. I wrote an extended thesis that was awarded 100% on recursion in mathematics and literature, and plan to study the philosophy of mathematics at university.

I am a fully qualified Maths teacher, and have spent the last five years working in schools teaching Maths to students aged 11-18. I have spent the last two years as Assistant Curriculum Leader for Maths at a secondary school / sixth form in East London. Hi! I’m currently studying a maths engineering degree at university and I can’t wait to use the skills I’ve learned to help students with maths and science. I understand what it’s like to struggle with a STEM subject, so I approach my tutoring from a place of patience and sympathy. When a student doesn’t understand a concept, I focus on finding out exactly what piece of the puzzle they are missing, and will re-explain the idea in a way that works for them, as everyone learns differently! For secondary school I attended South Hampstead High School and took my GCSE’s and A Levels there. For my GCSEs I received a nine in maths, English literature , all three sciences, geography and computer science, and an eight in French, art and English Language. For my A levels I received an A star in maths, further maths and physics, and an A in computer science. Currently I’m loving studying an Engineering Mathematics degree at the University of Bristol and I just completed my first year. I’m set to do an integrated masters there as well.
