Hi! I am an academically passionate tutor with A* A* A at A-level in English Literature, Biology, and History, and I am currently studying Law with Politics at degree level. I have over three years of tutoring and mentoring experience, working with 11+ and GCSE students. I also have specific experience helping students who were previously struggling or underperforming to move from failing grades to top grades - not just passing - through clear, structured, and targeted teaching. I genuinely enjoy tutoring because I’ve seen how powerful the right support can be, when something finally clicks, it completely changes how a student feels about a subject. My aim is to make that moment happen regularly by breaking topics down clearly and building understanding step by step. Me and my students focus on: - strengthening core skills - filling gaps in understanding - building exam and classroom confidence - encouraging independent thinking, not just memorisation I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit their pace, personality and ability, whether they need patience and repetition or more challenge and extension. I aim to help students not just improve their grades, but genuinely change how they approach and understand learning. Education History: I passed the 11+ in 2017 and attended the highly selective Pate’s Grammar School (2018–2025). I achieved 5 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s, and 2 Grade 7s at GCSE (2023), followed by A* A* A at A-level (2025) in English Literature, Biology, and History. I am currently studying Law with Politics at undergraduate level, continuing to develop strong analytical, evaluative, and written communication skills. Experience: Alongside my academic studies, I have developed over three years of tutoring and mentoring experience. I have worked with 11+ students as well as GCSE learners, helping students build confidence, improve exam technique, and achieve strong academic progress. My students have all performed successfully in 11+ exams, and have achieved 7s, 8s, and 9s at GCSE level. In addition, I have held leadership and mentoring roles, including supporting younger students with literacy, reading comprehension and maths (Year 4 - Year 7) and working with children in youth and classroom settings through volunteering roles and placements. This has given me experience working with a wide range of learners, including those with ADHD, autism, and dyslexia, and adapting my approach to meet individual needs. Overall, I combine a strong academic record with proven tutoring experience and a highly adaptable, student-focused approach to help learners achieve measurable academic success and long-term confidence.

Hi! I’m Sunderani, an Accounting and Finance student at the University of Birmingham with two years of tutoring experience, both privately and in a school setting. I really enjoy helping students build their confidence, improve their understanding and achieve results they’re proud of. I achieved excellent GCSE results, including grade 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and Drama and grade 8s in Physics, English Language and English Literature. Alongside university, I completed a year-long placement at Deloitte in external audit, where I developed my analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. These experiences have strengthened my ability to break down complex information and explain it clearly, which I bring into my tutoring. I teach all KS3 subjects, a wide range of GCSE subjects and A-level Maths, Business and Chemistry. I’m familiar with all exam boards and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. Having been through GCSEs and A-levels myself, I understand how stressful exams can be and how much difference the right support can make. I adapt my lessons to suit each student’s learning style, whether that’s breaking down difficult concepts, practising exam questions or improving exam technique. I’m friendly, patient and approachable and I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to make them feel genuinely confident in their abilities! I am currently studying BSc Accounting and Finance with a Placement Year at the University of Birmingham. As part of my degree, I completed a year-long placement as a Senior Audit Associate at Deloitte, where I gained valuable professional experience in financial analysis, problem-solving and communicating complex information clearly. I have also begun studying towards the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification and have successfully completed six examinations so far. Prior to university, I attended an Independent School in London on a scholarship, where I studied A-level Mathematics, Business and Chemistry, alongside an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), for which I achieved an A*. Tutoring at Key Stage 3 level

What is Key Stage 3?

Key Stage 3 (KS3) covers the three years of school known as Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9, when students are between 11 and 14 years of age.

It follows the national curriculum and prepares children for more advanced learning at KS4/GCSE level.

What subjects are covered in Key Stage 3?

The compulsory subjects at Key Stage 3 are:

  • English (Literature, Language)
  • Mathematics
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Art and Design
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Modern foreign languages
  • Music
  • Citizenship
  • Physical Education (PE)

Additional subjects include Religious Education (RE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), which includes sex education. Parents can request that their children opt out of sex education lessons and either parts of RE or all the lessons.

The focus of Key Stage 3

KS3 forms a bridge between primary school and GCSE study. It deepens knowledge and understanding in the different subjects and focuses on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The curriculum is designed to be broad so that students can explore their interests and abilities in a wide range of subjects. This is essential when it comes to deciding which subjects to pursue at GCSE level – a crucial decision which influences future academic and career paths.

How is KS3 assessed?

Learning is assessed in two ways: how well students are learning and remembering the curriculum and whether they are understanding what they have learned.

There are no national or external assessments at Key Stage 3. Instead, teachers carry out ongoing assessments for each pupil in each of the year groups.

How to choose a KS3 tutor

Whether your child is struggling with making the transition from primary to secondary school or having difficulties with one or more subjects in any of the years, a KS3 tutor can help them close any gaps in their understanding while helping to build confidence and motivation.

Tutoring can also help students needing an extra boost before entering the Key Stage 4 GCSE years.

It’s essential the tutor is a subject specialist and experienced in adaptive learning, which prioritises personalised learning tailored to the individual’s needs and understanding. This approach allows students to work at their own pace and truly master any problem areas before moving on.

GoStudent has a range of qualified and experienced tutors in all subjects covered in the KS3 curriculum. They can suggest effective study techniques and deepen understanding while helping create a study plan that will keep learning on track.

With the help of a tutor, your child can reach their full potential and develop love of learning that will carry them through the rest of their school years and beyond.
