Hello! My name is Toby and I am a current student at the University of Reading, studying Pharmacology. I previously attained 3 A-Levels for Chemistry, Biology and Geography as well as tutoring my sisters/family friends during their GCSEs too. I have some great hands on experience at tutoring and I strive for success! My favourite hobbies outside of education is probably skateboarding and making music and I love dogs. :) Previously I attended Penistone Grammar School for secondary education, as I am originally from Sheffield. I took separate sciences for one of my GCSE choices as well as geography and business study’s and achieved 8s in all of these. After this I attended Penistone grammar school 6th form for my A-Levels. I enjoyed it here a lot where I then studied Chemistry, Biology and Geography. From here I achieved all my A-Levels and now go to the University of Reading and study Pharmacology.

Hi, I'm Alice! I'm currently a university student, so I know first-hand how tricky it can be when you're struggling to grasp a topic. But I also know that with the right support, you can get there and I'd love to help you on that journey! I have four years of tutoring experience, working with a wide range of age groups and abilities. I’ve also supported SEND pupils and am always ready to adapt my teaching style to suit individual needs. I’m flexible, and always happy to explain things in different ways until it clicks so that you reach your full potential! I completed my A-Levels in 2024 at Greenhead College. Hi, I'm Neha, a medical student at King's College London with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. My tutoring style is patient, supportive and structured. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, helping students understand the logic behind what they are learning rather than relying on memorisation. Whether a student is aiming for top grades or looking to improve their confidence, I strive to create a positive learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their understanding. I achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at A Level, and Grade 9s in all 10 GCSE subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Computer Science. My academic achievements include Bronze awards in both the UK Biology Olympiad and UK Chemistry Olympiad (2024), Gold awards in the UKMT Mathematics Challenge (2019–2021) and a High Merit in Grade 6 LAMDA Public Speaking (2024). I was also the winner of the Behavioural Sciences category at my school Science Fair. Through my studies, I have developed strong subject knowledge, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills. My specialisms are Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and medicine application mentoring, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence, deepen their understanding, and achieve their academic goals.

I’m Ashwini! I'm currently doing a Masters in Natural Sciences specialising in Maths and Physics. I tutor online for GCSE and A-level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Combined Science. I love helping students get that “click” moment, turning tricky topics into something clear, confident, and even enjoyable! Lessons are high-energy but structured: we build understanding fast, practise the skills that earn marks, and get real progress. Outside tutoring I play piano, rock climb, train in the gym/boxing and enjoy art. I’m currently studying a Masters in Natural Sciences at Durham University, specialising primarily in Mathematics and Physics. My degree is highly quantitative and has given me strong problem-solving, clear mathematical communication, and the ability to break complex ideas into simple, teachable steps. This background means I’m particularly strong at teaching key GCSE and A-level areas where students often get stuck: building physical intuition in mechanics (forces, moments, energy, motion), vectors, and the maths that underpins progress: algebra, trigonometry, and calculus (differentiation and integration) taught in an exam-focused, step-by-step way. I also studied Chemistry modules in my first year, which strengthened both my subject knowledge and my ability to teach Chemistry clearly. I’m confident supporting students with the parts of Chemistry that often feel hardest: moles, organic chemistry, bonding and structure, equilibria, acids and bases, and practical-style questions where method matters. Overall, my education means I can help students not just memorise content, but understand it well enough to apply it confidently in exam questions.

What is Key Stage 3?
Key Stage 3 (KS3) covers the three years of school known as Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9, when students are between 11 and 14 years of age.
It follows the national curriculum and prepares children for more advanced learning at KS4/GCSE level.
What subjects are covered in Key Stage 3?
The compulsory subjects at Key Stage 3 are:
Additional subjects include Religious Education (RE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), which includes sex education. Parents can request that their children opt out of sex education lessons and either parts of RE or all the lessons.
The focus of Key Stage 3
KS3 forms a bridge between primary school and GCSE study. It deepens knowledge and understanding in the different subjects and focuses on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The curriculum is designed to be broad so that students can explore their interests and abilities in a wide range of subjects. This is essential when it comes to deciding which subjects to pursue at GCSE level – a crucial decision which influences future academic and career paths.
How is KS3 assessed?
Learning is assessed in two ways: how well students are learning and remembering the curriculum and whether they are understanding what they have learned.
There are no national or external assessments at Key Stage 3. Instead, teachers carry out ongoing assessments for each pupil in each of the year groups.
How to choose a KS3 tutor
Whether your child is struggling with making the transition from primary to secondary school or having difficulties with one or more subjects in any of the years, a KS3 tutor can help them close any gaps in their understanding while helping to build confidence and motivation.
Tutoring can also help students needing an extra boost before entering the Key Stage 4 GCSE years.
It’s essential the tutor is a subject specialist and experienced in adaptive learning, which prioritises personalised learning tailored to the individual’s needs and understanding. This approach allows students to work at their own pace and truly master any problem areas before moving on.
GoStudent has a range of qualified and experienced tutors in all subjects covered in the KS3 curriculum. They can suggest effective study techniques and deepen understanding while helping create a study plan that will keep learning on track.
With the help of a tutor, your child can reach their full potential and develop love of learning that will carry them through the rest of their school years and beyond.
