Rebecca C.

New tutor

My name is Rebecca and I am from South Wales, United Kingdom. I have experienced living in different places around the UK and I lived in London for several years, which was an amazing experience to meet people from international countries and learn many things about their culture and interests too. I enjoy cooking at home, as formally I have trained on the job as a professional chef, mainly in seafood/fish restaurants and Japanese cuisine. Also, I like going for a walk down the coastline and taking in the scenic views, photography and sometimes video gaming when the time arises. For over a year, I have been teaching English online as a second language to Taiwanese and Chinese students, both juniors and adults. Which became an interest whilst I was teaching sushi classes in London. I decided to advance onto teaching specifically English and conversational topics chosen by students, to further improve their overall English language. From education I gained a TEFL level 5 teaching qualification and a BSc (Hons) in Food and Consumer Management from Birmingham University. Which focused on live industry projects within the FMCG sector, nutrition and the business elements within the food industry. I enjoy cooking at home, particularly Japanese cuisine and seafood dishes that I learnt previously as a professional chef.

New tutor

Hello and welcome to my profile! 😊 I'm Aishwarya, an English tutor with 10 years of tutoring experience and a background in Marketing and Consulting. So, it turns out that explaining marketing concepts and explaining grammar rules use the same muscle: taking something complicated and making it click. That's what I bring to every lesson. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐞𝐝 Most students don't struggle because they can't do the work. They struggle because exam questions are confusing and nobody's shown them a clear way in. I fix that with visual guides, step by step frameworks and loads of past paper practice, so by exam day it just feels familiar. 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐈 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 ① 11+ & SATs (English & Verbal Reasoning) — comprehension, SPAG, reading skills and verbal reasoning, plus practice papers and a bit of stretch to create a challenge once they're ready to tackle it. ② GCSE English Language (AQA & Edexcel) — paper recaps, past paper walkthroughs and the specific techniques that get students from a 5 to a 7, 8 or 9. ③ Primary English — 1 hour sessions on spelling, grammar, comprehension and vocabulary. Kept interactive so it doesn't feel like a chore with breaks in between. ④ Degree Level Proofreading & Mentoring — 1.5 hour sessions on critical analysis, essay structure, grammar and citations. Getting firsts and 2:1s in assessments aren't difficult once you know what to develop your arguments on. 𝐌𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 No question is a silly question, ever. I mix things up with visual annotations, videos and games so lessons don't feel repetitive. Whether it's the 11+, chasing a grade 9, or getting a dissertation proofread properly, the goal is always the same: build confidence and get the result. 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 I take this seriously. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS check, plus 3 safeguarding qualifications covering children, 16 to 25 year olds and online tutoring. I've taught learners from age 6 through to university. You'll always be learning somewhere that feels safe and pressure free. MY EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐦 MSc Strategic Marketing and Consulting BSc (Hons) Business Management with Marketing 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business - Distinction Getting up the educational ladder isn't always easy. With the right tools and someone genuinely in your corner, it's completely doable. I'm ready when you are! Let's get you those grades and have fun in the process too 😊

Stephen A.

Stephen A.

New tutor

Hi, I’m Stephen, a medical student at the University of Nottingham with a strong interest in science and education. I achieved an A in A Level Chemistry and continue to develop and apply my scientific knowledge throughout my medical studies. Having been through GCSEs and A Levels myself, I understand that knowing the content is only part of doing well in Chemistry. Exam technique is just as important. Students can understand a topic well but still lose marks because they do not know what the question is asking for, how to structure their answer or which key words the mark scheme expects. I therefore place a strong focus on exam questions, mark schemes, identifying common mistakes and learning how to turn knowledge into marks. I also believe that Chemistry does not have to feel intimidating or boring. With clear explanations and the right approach, Chemistry can be fun and it is absolutely a subject you can do well in. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, getting things wrong and gradually building their confidence. My approach is patient and adaptable because every student learns differently. Alongside tutoring, I have experience mentoring university students, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and support people towards their goals. Outside of Medicine and studying, I am a big football fan and enjoy running. I recently completed a half marathon, so I understand the value of consistency, discipline and gradually improving over time. I try to bring the same mindset into tutoring. You do not need to understand everything immediately. With consistent practice and the right guidance, progress follows. My goal is to help students understand Chemistry, master their exam technique and become confident enough to work towards grades 7 to 9. I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Nottingham, where I have developed a strong scientific foundation across areas including Chemistry, Biology, physiology and human health. My degree has strengthened my analytical thinking, problem solving and communication skills, all of which I bring into my tutoring. Before starting Medicine, I completed A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, achieving an A in Chemistry. Chemistry has always been one of my strongest subjects and remains an area I enjoy teaching. My current medical studies allow me to continue applying scientific concepts at university level, while my experience mentoring students has helped me develop a patient, clear and supportive approach to explaining difficult topics and improving exam technique.

New tutor

Hi! I am a current medical student who enjoys and is passionate about learning. I am hoping to help develop a similar love for learning within tutees that motivates them to want to understand what they are learning. I specialise in tutoring mainly in Biology, Psychology, Chemistry, and Math. Having studied the IBDP, I understand the benefit of a good comprehension and understanding so that they can not just work through one subject, but also balance a multitude of subjects and extracurricular activities, especially as a busy secondary student. This will then provide them with greater critical understanding and knowledge to help them to get to where they want to be academically. I hope to get to know the student so that I can provide specific student-centred tuition that matches the style of teaching and learning as closely as possible to allow the student to learn and understand the material much more effectively and efficiently. Outside of learning to help wind down, I enjoy sports, particularly netball and football. As well as reading and listening to music. I studied the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at school. Studying Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology at Higher level, and then Math AI, Spanish Ab Initio and English Literature at standard level. I achieved 40 points, including 7s in Math and Psychology, and 6s in the others. As well as an A in my world studies (Biology and Economics) extended essay on the treatment of Parkinson's Disease using Levodopa. I am an incoming 2nd-year medical student at the University of Aberdeen, and I passed first year with all A's, earning a distinction for the year. During the year, I completed a project on Delirium vs Dementia, also earning a distinction. I have also previously tutored some SEN students, including a student with autism and ADHD.
